Doha: A new chapter in Qatar’s cultural and publishing landscape began with the launch of Alqantara Publishing and Distribution during the Doha International Book Fair, in the presence of HE Minister of Culture Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Thani.
The inauguration was attended by a distinguished gathering of intellectuals, writers, publishers, and cultural enthusiasts, reflecting the growing momentum of Qatar’s cultural sector and the expanding role of creative industries in advancing knowledge-based development.

Founder and Director of Alqantara Publishing and Distribution, Jassim Salman, said the establishment of the publishing house was driven by a strong belief in the transformative power of books in shaping individuals and fostering awareness.
He explained that Alqantara aims to serve as a cultural and intellectual bridge connecting thought, creativity, and humanity, while providing writers and creators with a dynamic platform for expression, innovation, and literary production.
Salman emphasized that launching the publishing house during the Doha International Book Fair carries significant cultural value, given the fair’s standing as a leading regional and international platform for intellectual dialogue, literary exchange, and cultural engagement.
He added that Alqantara will publish a diverse range of works spanning literature, thought, humanities, children’s literature, and translated publications, with a strong focus on high-quality content that promotes knowledge, openness, and constructive dialogue.
As part of its debut participation at the fair, Alqantara Publishing and Distribution is showcasing a collection of intellectual, literary, and translated titles, with particular emphasis on Qatari works that celebrate national identity and preserve local memory.
