Text message initiative promotes preventive healthcare, early disease detection and easier access to routine screenings across PHCC health centers

Doha: The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has launched a public awareness campaign encouraging eligible patients to undergo annual health checkups, reinforcing its commitment to preventive healthcare, early disease detection and improved access to quality medical services.

The campaign targets eligible Qatari patients registered at PHCC health centers and uses text messages to invite recipients to benefit from the corporation’s annual health checkup service. The initiative aims to raise awareness of the importance of routine screenings in preventing diseases, detecting health conditions at an early stage and promoting healthier lifestyles.

Assistant Managing Director for Clinical Affairs and Executive Director of Operations at PHCC, Dr. Samya Ahmad Al Abdulla, said the campaign seeks to increase public awareness of the annual health checkup service while encouraging patients to schedule appointments through self-referral by calling 107.

She added that the initiative is designed to boost engagement with preventive healthcare services, in line with PHCC’s vision of improving community health, enhancing quality of life and reducing the burden of preventable diseases through early intervention.

Dr. Al Abdulla noted that PHCC has completed all necessary preparations to ensure its health centers are fully equipped to accommodate beneficiaries of the campaign. Patients can schedule an annual health checkup by calling 107, while all individuals aged 18 years and above are also eligible to access the service without a prior appointment.

PHCC health centers provide annual health checkups around the clock, serving self-referred patients, walk-in visitors and those with pre-booked appointments, ensuring convenient access and continuity of care for all eligible patients.

The corporation explained that the initial health assessment must be conducted in person at a PHCC health center. However, follow-up consultations may be provided remotely when clinically appropriate, offering greater flexibility while maintaining high standards of patient care.

PHCC reaffirmed that the annual health checkup service remains fully operational and readily accessible across its network of health centers. The corporation added that it has sufficient capacity to manage any increase in demand generated by the text-message campaign, underscoring its ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality preventive healthcare services that enhance community well-being and improve public health outcomes.
